For a private residence, Ariana framed this fireplace in a mosaic of black-and-silver mica — the stone split and laid by hand so that it catches and holds the firelight.

The piece was composed for its room: dark enough to anchor the wall by day, alive with reflected flame by night. Stone, returned to the fire that made it.
