Turning organic material into art.

Ariana Blum is an artist who transforms raw, organic materials into fine art. Over more than two decades she has invented and refined the techniques that turn mica, straw, eggshell, glass, silk, wood and metal into one-of-a-kind pieces — surfaces and objects that hold warmth, texture and light.

A material inventor

She invents the material, not just the piece

Ariana's gift is invention. Where others see straw or eggshell, she sees a surface waiting to be made. She develops new veneers, finishes and effects — several patent-pending — each created and tested by hand in her New Jersey studio until it becomes a wall, a mirror, a lamp — a work of art.

An artist’s eye

She reads the mood of a space

Ariana begins by feeling a room — its light, its proportions, the calm it keeps or the drama it invites. From that reading she invents the piece: the material, the colour, the pattern and the play of light, composed so it doesn’t merely sit in the space but completes it. Every work is one of a kind, made to belong exactly where it lives.
